In the shifters, the puzzle image is divided into square tiles. One of the sides of the tile contains the correct image, while the other has an incorrect one. You must flip all the tiles to the right side to get the whole image. In some puzzles, there are numbers that show how many of the 4 tiles adjacent to the left, right, above, and below the tile are turned the wrong side.
